\nWhy do we need GBR in implant dentistry: contemporary approach<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Guided bone regeneration (GBR) can be a predictable procedure aiming to compensate for the bone loss which has taken place following teeth removal. However, specific biology-based concepts have to be fully respected to achieve successful results with GBR such as using a well stabilized slowly resorbing collagen membrane, to offer a well-isolated space underneath.
\nThis lecture will discuss contemporary approaches to guide you to improve your GBR results. The lecture will also discuss various
\nindications for guided bone regeneration and clinical scenarios when GBR will not be suitable, and a staged bone augmentation approach will be required instead.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

\nGrafting procedures in implant dentistry: Autografts, Alternatives and Innovations<\/strong><\/h4>\n

One of the most challenging procedures in implantology is the predictable and safe regeneration of lateral and vertical bone defects. Besides autogenous bone as the golden standard for jaw augmentation procedures, different biomaterials such as bone substitutes and membranes have shown predictable results. Hereby, quality of the recipient site, the osteogenous potential of the graft, graft immobilization and transmembraneous angiogenesis of the barrier are affecting the predictability of the regeneration outcome. Newer techniques are focussing on biologisation, graft immobilization and ease of clinical application. They represent additional tools to fulfil the increasing expectations of the modern patient.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

HANDS-ON: Socket grafting for improved Prosthodontics and Implants Restoration<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Patients with thin phenotype has been reported to suffer with more than 50% bone loss following teeth extraction. Not only bone loss can complicate future implant placement but can also lead to poor prosthetic design for pontics in implants prosthodontics and conventional bridges. Socket grafting can be a very predictable minor operation when it is done properly, following correct biological principles and can convert complex implant cases into predictable and straightforward cases as well as can help us to design our future prosthesis in a hygienic and aesthetic design. This workshop will present step by step how to perform a successful socket grafting and will cover various indications when socket grafting is highly recommended.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

\nHorizontal Ridge Augmentation: Techniques and Approaches<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Following tooth extraction, a three-dimensional (3D) soft and hard tissue alterations are inevitable and irreversible. Moreover, horizontal bone changes occur to a greater extent and at a faster rate than vertical bone changes. Considering this fact, numerous horizontal bone augmentation techniques have been described, such as block grafts, guided bone regeneration (GBR), and ridge splitting technique (RST). These techniques\u2019 main target is to increase the bone width to place the implant in an ideal 3D position for a long-term functional and esthetic outcome. In order to help clinicians to choose the proper ridge augmentation technique, this lecture will present different techniques focusing especially on guided bone regeneration using resorbable membrane (Jason\u00ae membrane – botiss) and xenograft bone substitutes (cerabone\u00ae – botiss) and the ridge splitting technique. Also, well-supported articles, references and clinical cases will be discussed in details.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

\nExtraction socket dilemma from ridge preservation to immediate implantation<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Implant placement is now a predictable and globally accepted procedure to replace missing teeth. Nevertheless, the unpredictable fate of fresh alveolar sockets may lead to problems, especially in the esthetic zone. In fact, following tooth extraction, bone and soft tissue remodeling is inevitable and may jeopardize the aesthetic outcome of the procedure. Many procedures were described in order to reduce post-extractive resorption and prevent major bony ridge alterations, mainly focusing on ridge preservation, using different techniques with diverse biomaterials, and immediate implant placement with buccal gap grafting.
\nIn this presentation, we will present several clinical and scientific studies concerning extraction socket dimensional changes, bone remodeling, ridge preservation and immediate implant placement. Furthermore, we will focus on the importance of bovine bone grafting in ridge and buccal contour preservation, with some clinical and radiographic long-term results.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
