Aim: This study compared and evaluated the clinical and radiographic results of GBR in the treatment of severe buccal bone defects using platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) or Jason\u00ae<\/strong> membrane as barrier in immediately placed implants of severe buccal bone defects.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Material\/ Methods:<\/strong> <\/span>
\nSixteen patients were enrolled for immediate implant placement. The patients were randomly divided into two groups: the first group received a PRF membrane and the other group Jason\u00ae membrane to cover the defect. The sites were grafted with cerabone\u00ae in both groups. After 4 months, at the time of second-stage surgery, implant stability and crestal bone level on mesial and distal sides of the implant were measured. Buccal defects were clinically and histologically assessed.<\/p>\n

Results\/Conclusion:<\/strong> <\/span>
\nAll postsurgical inconveniences were minimal after tooth extraction and implant placement. All implants osseointegrated successfully and none of the implants failed during the study. The results were comparable in both study groups. No significant differences were found after 4 months regarding mean buccal defect, mean values of average ISQ, and crestal bone level. Bone quality seemed to be equal in both groups following histological analysis presenting\u00a0cerabone\u00ae as stable grafting material. Within the limits of the study, both study groups had shown similar results in all criteria. Both treatment modalities PRF or Jason\u00ae membrane coverage are successful in terms of buccal defect reduction, stability, and increase in crestal bone level. Further studies are required to confirm the clinical findings.<\/p>\n
