Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR) procedures aim to restore ridge width using bone graft materials and barrier membranes. However, the predictability of GBR relies on effective space maintenance, graft stability, and meticulous surgical execution. In this video, a new technique for lateral ridge augmentation using a magnesium-based solution NOVAMag<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> is presented.<\/p>\n<p><b>NOVAMag<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> membrane<\/b> is made from pure magnesium and is fully resorbable. Due to its metallic nature, it combines excellent malleability with exceptional strength, allowing it to withstand soft tissue pressure while maintaining space for the bone regeneration. In this example, the membrane is used as a plate after proper shaping with NOVAMag<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> instruments to match the defect morphology and the natural contour of the alveolar ridge. <b>NOVAMag<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> fixation screws<\/b> are employed to secure the membrane in place. These magnesium-based screws are also fully resorbable. Their surfaces are specially treated to control the degradation pattern, ensuring stable fixation of the membrane, which gives the screws their characteristic dark appearance. The workflow of placing the screws is illustrated in the video.<\/p>\n<p>This technique represents an innovative and simple alternative for predictable horizontal ridge augmentation. It can be applied either in a staged or simultaneous approach, where augmentation and implant placement are performed in the same procedure.
