In cases that this margin is missing, e.g. because of previous flap surgery or atrophy of the jaw, different possibilities for vestibuloplasties exist most commonly using autogenous grafts harvested from the palate, the mucosa of the cheek or free gingival skin grafts.<\/p>\n<p>However, the harvesting procedure is associated with certain morbidity and, depending on the donor tissue, there are also aesthetic limitations. The clinical application of stable, porcine 3D matrices (mucoderm<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>) can be regarded as a serious, and applied in suitable indications, even advantageous alternative.
