At the ITI World Symposium 2024 in Singapore, Dr. Jochen Tunkel received the prestigious grand prize of best procedure execution at the inaugural ITI Academy Video Awards for his educational video titled “Rehabilitation of Vertical Defects in the Esthetic Area – Is Autologous Bone Irreplaceable?”.

In this video, Dr. Tunkel showcased two complex cases involving severe vertical bone loss in the esthetic zone. His approach used a two-stage bone augmentation procedure featuring allogeneic cortical plates (maxgraft^® cortico) to form stable containers. These were filled with a blend of allogeneic granules and autologous bone chips to foster new bone formation. The technique removes the need for harvesting autologous bone from a second site, delivering consistent, predictable outcomes with high levels of patient satisfaction.
