NOVAMag® fixation screw
Resorbable, biodegradable, magnesium metal alloy
Biodegradable metal
Resorbable fixation screw
Controlled degradation
Made from a completely resorbable, biodegradable, magnesium metal alloy, NOVAMag® fixation screws are ideal for securing barrier membranes, bone grafts and bone augmenting material. The screws provide support during the critical healing period and are completely resorbed within approximately one year1, 2. The screws integrate within the bone as they degrade, with new bone forming up to the surface of the screws3.
Five sizes for all your fixation needs
The smallest screw (the NOVAMag® fixation screw XS) is specifically designed for securing membranes, such as the NOVAMag® membrane, the collagen membranes Jason® membrane or collprotect® membrane, as well as non-resorbable PTFE membranes, such as permamem®.
NOVAMag® fixation screws S-XL can be used for bone block fixation. Because the fixation screws are resorbable, remnants of the screws pose no risk during dental implant placement and can be left to completely resorb over a period of approximately one year after their implantation.
The NOVAMag® fixation screw is indicated for the fixation of barrier membranes and/or bone grafts in the support of guided tissue and bone regeneration (GTR and GBR):
- in case of surgical bone defects and bone wall defects
- in the context of sinus floor augmentation
- in the context of ridge augmentation
- in the context of ridge reconstruction for prosthetic treatment
- in the context of a treatment of fenestration defects
- in the context of maxillofacial surgeries (the fixation system is not to be used in conjunction with a plate system)
- in case of periodontal bone defects (one to three-wall defects, furcation defects)
- after apicectomy, cystectomy, resection of retained teeth and resection of other bone lesions
- in case of augmentation in conjunction with immediate or delayed implant placement.
Block Augmentation using NOVAMag® fixation screw S-XL
- Consideration of soft tissue management
- Appropriate screw size selected for augmentation
- Bone block predrilled using the NOVAMag® drill 1.35
- Pilot hole drilled using NOVAMag® drill 1.0
- The insertion hole widened using the NOVAMag® drill 1.2 or 1.35 for medium to hard bone types
- NOVAMag® fixation screw inserted using the NOVAMag® connector
- Screw drive removed using the NOVAMag® safety cutter
Membrane Fixation using NOVAMag® fixation screw XS-S
- Consideration of soft tissue management
- Pilot hole drilled using precision drill
- NOVAMag® fixation screw XS inserted via the NOVAMag® connector
- The drive is removed either via sheering off or via the NOVAMag® safety cutter
