Membranes
Established concept for bone regeneration
In dentistry, barrier membranes with different mechanical as well as resorption properties are used, depending on the indication as well as the defect type and the preference of the clinician and patient. Barrier membranes have been used in Guided Tissue Regeneration (GTR) and Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR) for many years.
Jason® membrane
NATIVE PERICARDIUM MEMBRANE FOR GBR/GTR
A native collagen membrane obtained from porcine pericardium, offering multi-directional strength and tear resistance.
collprotect® membrane
NATIVE COLLAGEN MEMBRANE
A native collagen membrane made of porcine dermis, which is intended for dental bone and soft tissue regeneration.
permamem®
HIGH-DENSITY PTFE BARRIER MEMBRANE
An exceptionally thin, non-resorbable and biocompatible membrane.
NOVAMag® membrane
RESORBABLE MAGNESIUM MEMBRANE
A completely resorbable, biodegradable metal membrane
Clinical situations require materials with different properties
The desired barrier function largely depends on the indication; for smaller augmentative procedures membranes with an intermediate barrier function such as collprotect® membrane, is a good choice. For extended horizontal bone defects long lasting collagen barrier membranes such as Jason® membrane optimally support the osseous regenerative process. Space-supporting membranes, for example PTFE-membranes (e.g. permamem®) provide additional stability for augmentation of defects outside the bony envelope and also provide advantages in case of an open healing approach.
