Wound support
Supporting blood clot formation
Porcine-derived collagen cones and sponges , such as collacone® and collafleece®, are designed to promote hemostasis and provide a scaffold for blood absorption and cell ingrowth. Therefore, they help blood clot formation resulting in control of the natural healing of the wound. In addition, covering of the open wound prevents tooth extraction complications, such as alveolar osteitis (dry socket), bacterial and surgical wound infections.
Covering of oral wounds and treatment of extraction sites
The fast initiation of hemostasis can be of particular benefit in the treatment of coagulation compromised patients. Thus, collafleece® can be applied to protect wounds and to support wound healing (i.e., biopsy or transplant harvesting sites), whereas collacone® was developed for application in fresh extraction sockets. The cone was specially designed to fit into the socket, protecting the wound area from food and bacteria as well as to control the bleeding in a natural way.
