botiss is official industry partner of ITI World Symposium Singapore
We are happy and inspired after three full days of congress, filled with Networking, scientific exchange and social events. botiss participated with three TechPodSlots, two workshops and our bone & tissue day with two sessions and eight amazing speakers.
From the 09.-12.05.2024 the ITI World Symposium took place in Singapore with more than 5500 participants from all around the world.
Our booth was very well visited during the whole three days. Moreover, we had the opportunity to participate with three TechPodSlots in the exhibition area during the breaks. Dr. Larissa Steigmann talked about personalized dentistry + botissCARE, the TechPodSlot of Dr. Maja Chmielewska revolved around resorbable metal membranes and healing boosters in grafting materials. The third lecture was given by Dr. Romain Doliveux on reconstructive periimplantitis treatment as well as the concept of prosthetically driven bone grafting using the shell technique and allogeneic cortical plates.
The bone & tissue day Singapore took place as a parallel session to the main program on Friday the 10th. The bone & tissue day consisted of two sessions, the first one moderated by Dr. Maja Chmielewska and the second by Dr. Larissa Steigmann. In each session, three speakers presented their corresponding topics followed by a panel discussion. The first part of the bone & tissue day was about optimizing treatment outcomes and how to support the healing process with the participation of Prof. Dr. Peer Kämmerer, Dr. Dragana Rakasevic and Dr. Martina Stefanini, who presented compelling data that hyaluronic acid has not only beneficial impact in in-vitro studies, but also significant positive applications in the treatment of periimplant diseases as well as GBR procedures around teeth and implants.
In addition to our participation in the exhibition area, we had two very successful workshops – both with around 60 very engaging participants who continued questioning the lecturers even long after the official end of the sessions.
The first workshop was held by Dr. Larissa Steigmann under the title: Alveolar ridge preservation for ideal implant placement in the aesthetic zone. Dr. Steigmann focused on the biological principles of ridge preservation and on how they influence the choice of the right biomaterials to accomplish long-term functional and esthetic results. Besides others, she explained the differences in properties and use of the bones substitute materials maxgraft® and cerabone® as well as of the membranes permamem® and Jason® membrane.
The second workshop was given by Dr. Jochen Tunkel and Prof. Dr. Peer Kämmerer – sparking a vivid discussion about the best practices and pitfalls in bone augmentation, ranging from treatment of extraction sockets with maxgraft® or cerabone® plus with permamem®, utilization of NOVAMag® and maxgraft® cortico for the treatment of severe defects to concepts for maintaining long term stability by secondary relining technique with cerabone® plus and Jason® membrane.
The second session focused on challenging autogenous bone as the Gold Standard in bone augmentation and the speakers were Dr. Frank Kloss, Dr. Algirdas Puisys and Dr. Jochen Tunkel. After presenting various techniques ranging from block grafting, shell technique as well as particulate bone grafting, the panel came to the conclusion that for mayor bone augmentation with maxgraft® blocks, maxgraft® cortico or maxgraft® granules is as predictable as autologous bone grafting in most indications, but that at least a small amount of autogenous bone is needed to enhance the biological potential. However, the extend of harvested bone can be significantly reduced to chips from the primary surgical site without jeopardizing the treatment outcome in such applications, largely contributing to a more patient oriented treatment concept.
