The study compared of monophasic β-TCP (MBS) and biphasic β-TCP (maxresorb®) in maxillary sinus floor elevations using the lateral window technique.
Method:
Biocompatibility, osteoconductivity and implant stability were analyzed histologically, radiologically and by resonance frequency analysis. Overall 60 patients were treated and 67 sinus lifts were performed.
Results/Conclusion:
Both monophasic and biphasic materials show good biocompatibility and osteoconductivity with satisfactory support on implant stability. Six months after sinus lift surgery the radiological volume of maxresorb® was significantly more stable than that of ß-TCP (6.66% vs. 22.2%). In addition, resonance frequency analysis endorsed a higher implant stability quotient for maxresorb® after six months.
