In this RCT, split-mouth study 91 multiple recessions of Miller class I and II in 29 patients were treated in the mandible with mucoderm+ MCAT or subepithelial connective tissue graft (SCTG)+MCAT, respectively. Different clinical parameters, such as GR, RW, PD, CAL, KT, GT, MRC and CRC and the root esthetic score (RES) were evaluated with a follow up of 12 months.
Results:
With regard to the challenging treatment in the mandible, the SCTG showed better outcomes after 12 months. MRC was 83% for SCTG compared to 53% for mucoderm®. Some esthetic parameters on the other hand, turned out to be higher in the mucoderm® group.
Conclusion:
Both, mucoderm® and SCTG resulted in reduction of the gingival recessions using the MCAT in the challenging mandible. mucoderm® may be an alternative with regard to esthetics and for a specific group of people who are especially sensitive to pain.
