In this surgery, Prof. Gabi Chaushu and Dr. Liat Chaushu present advanced implantology procedures, including sinus elevation, vertical bone augmentation, and simultaneous implant placement using biomaterials such as mucoderm^®, maxgraft^® +HyA, Jason^® membrane, and cerabone^® +HyA.

Posterior Right Maxilla
A one-stage approach is performed in the posterior right maxilla. Following preparation of the lateral window for sinus elevation, two implants are placed. A minor simultaneous lateral bone augmentation is conducted to cover exposed implant threads. The sinus cavity is then augmented using the allograft maxgraft^® +HyA enhanced with hyaluronic acid. A third implant is subsequently placed. The augmented area is fully covered with a native collagen pericardium membrane (Jason^® membrane), and primary wound closure is achieved without membrane exposure.

Posterior Left Mandible
In the posterior left mandible, a full-thickness flap is elevated, and periosteal releasing incisions are performed to enable tension-free closure. Three implants are placed simultaneously. A native collagen matrix (mucoderm^®) is positioned both buccally and lingually to stabilize the graft and promote soft tissue healing. Guided bone regeneration is performed using cerabone^® +HyA, prepared as “sticky bone” by hydrating it with saline solution. This is supplemented with maxgraft^® +HyA to further support regeneration. The site is then covered with a Jason^® membrane, followed by tension-free primary wound closure.

This case highlights the effective combination of advanced surgical techniques and biomaterials to achieve predictable hard and soft tissue regeneration in complex implant cases.

Prof. Gabi Chaushu, DMD, MSc, is a Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Tel Aviv University and Head of the Department at Rabin Medical Center (since 2011), with previous leadership roles at Tel Aviv Medical Center and Assaf Harofeh Medical Center. He trained at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and completed his residency at Chaim Sheba Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in implantology, trauma, and reconstructive surgery in Miami.

He is a past president of the Israeli Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, a board member of the Israeli Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and an active member of the Israeli Scientific Council.

With over 200 scientific publications, book chapters, and extensive international lecturing experience, he is a leading authority in implant dentistry, bone grafting, sinus augmentation, and oral pathology.
