In this surgery, Prof. Gabi Chaushu performs three surgical procedures in different anatomical regions, combining implant placement with guided bone and soft tissue regeneration techniques.

In the posterior right mandible, a full-thickness flap is elevated to expose the deficient ridge. After mobilizing the buccal and lingual soft tissues, three implants are placed.  Vertical bone augmentation is then performed using maxgraft^®+HyA, enhancing handling properties and supporting bone regeneration. Subsequently, a native collagen matrix, mucoderm^®, is sutured buccally and lingually to stabilize the graft and promote soft tissue healing. The site is then closed with tension-free suturing to ensure proper integration.

The same surgical approach is performed in the posterior left mandible and the posterior left maxilla, with the key difference being the placement of two implants instead of three. In the maxilla, the procedure additionally includes an atraumatic tooth extraction prior to immediate implant placement. In both regions, the regenerative protocol remains consistent, using maxgraft^®+HyA and mucoderm^® to support bone regeneration and soft tissue healing.

Prof. Gabi Chaushu, DMD, MSc, is a Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Tel Aviv University and Head of the Department at Rabin Medical Center (since 2011), with previous leadership roles at Tel Aviv Medical Center and Assaf Harofeh Medical Center. He trained at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and completed his residency at Chaim Sheba Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in implantology, trauma, and reconstructive surgery in Miami.

He is a past president of the Israeli Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, a board member of the Israeli Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and an active member of the Israeli Scientific Council.
