INTELLIGENT GRAFTING PROCEDURES IN THE IMPLANT DENTISTRY

Predictable and safe regeneration of bone defects is no longer a major obstacle in the implantology. A proper selection of different grafting biomaterials is based on the volume stability, osteogenicity, origin, porosity, and ease of clinical application that they provide. Especially the new generation of sticky bone not only supports better handling, but also provides faster cells proliferation, vascularization, and better clinical outcomes. Also, the guided bone regeneration is supported by the appropriate choice of barrier membranes. The balance between timed barrier function and space maintenance properties seems to be of crucial importance. The pericardium collagen membranes are already a gold standard for long-term barrier faction, but do we enjoy the removal of titanium meshes? Luckily a new generation of biodegradable metal is already available that doesn’t need removal. Also, their barrier timed function is comparable to pericardium collagen membranes. The lecture will focus on the clinical performance of various biomaterials and techniques used for bone augmentation procedures related to implantology.

MEMBRANES IN IMPLANT DENTISTRY – HOW DO WE DECIDE?

Bone substitutes are used to supplement or replace the autogenous bone transplantation. However, their combination with other biomaterials such as sponges, GBR membranes and 3D soft tissue matrices remains under discussion. The physicochemical properties combined with the high-quality biological potential and always indication-oriented biomaterials influence the desired clinical outcome. Also, the proper choice of membranes with optimal barrier function, or using the appropriate 2D/3D scaffold structure support the concepts of GBR and GTR. This lecture talks about bridging the gap between the clinics, science and industry by offering interdisciplinary knowledge for personalized treatment in order to treat each individual patient at its best.
