Regenerative periodontal surgery and therapy of peri-implant diseases

This intensive one-day course combines evidence-based lectures with practical work on animal models. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of modern techniques in regenerative periodontal surgery and the treatment of peri-implant diseases through current clinical guidelines.

Through the lectures, participants will learn about the biological principles and current concepts in periodontal and peri-implant regeneration, but also about preparing the patient for such procedures, from the classification and diagnosis of periodontal and peri-implant diseases and conditions, to therapeutic options with patient monitoring through supportive therapy. The theoretical part of the lecture will be accompanied by a presentation of clinical cases so that participants can successfully connect the theoretical and practical part for later application in their daily work. In this direction, pre- and post-procedure protocols will be presented, as well as possible complications that occur when performing surgical periodontal procedures.

Hands-on takes place on animal models, through which participants will gain practical experience with biomaterials such as bone substitutes and resorbable membranes. Working on models will enable participants to select the correct flap and incision design to avoid possible complications after surgical procedures, perform flap lifting and release techniques, display and prepare a vertical intraosseous defect for biomaterial application, adapt resorbable membranes, and close and stabilize the surgical area with various suturing techniques.
