RECORDED WEBINAR

Management of periimplant soft tissue with a 3D collagen matrix – WEBINAR

Peer Wolfgang Kämmerer

In the course of this webinar, advantages and disadvantages of the 3D matrix will be discussed and its application appropriate to the indication will be presented.

At present, a margin of at least 2 mm of fixed, keratinized mucosa surrounding the implant is recommended to avoid periimplant complications. In cases that this margin is missing, e.g. because of previous flap surgery or atrophy of the jaw, different possibilities for vestibuloplasties exist most commonly using autogenous grafts harvested from the palate, the mucosa of the cheek or free gingival skin grafts.

However, the harvesting procedure is associated with certain morbidity and, depending on the donor tissue, there are also aesthetic limitations. The clinical application of stable, porcine 3D matrices (mucoderm®) can be regarded as a serious, and applied in suitable indications, even advantageous alternative. In course of this webinar, advantages and disadvantages of the 3D matrix will be discussed and its application appropriate to the indication will be presented.
