Hands-On course for hard and soft tissue management
Review:
On October 26 and 27 2018, the hands-on course for hard and soft tissue management on human cadaver skulls took place in the southeast of Berlin at the medical competence center “Medizin im Grünen” for the second time.
During the two days of intensive training on fresh frozen cadavers, the two speakers Dr. Stavros Pelekanos (Athens, Greece) and Dr. Theodor Thiele (Berlin, Germany), presented basic and state-of-the-art techniques on alveolar bone augmentation and soft tissue manipulation.
The 16 participants from six different countries particularly appreciated the speaker’s expertise and patience, and reported of full satisfaction concerning the covered topics and the modern and well-equipped operating rooms, providing a professional environment for exchange and improvement of surgical skills.
The ‘Medizin im Grünen’ is a medical competence center in the south-east of Berlin located at the beautiful Scharmützelsee. The modern and well-equipped operating and conference rooms as well as the nice and quiet surroundings offer a perfect basis for high-quality practical learning and professional exchange with experts and colleagues.
Course Description
During this two-day course participants will learn and perform different concepts and techniques for hard and soft tissue augmentation and management. Starting with the presentation of the most important anatomical structures (nerves, vessels), to standard and advanced, innovative techniques for bone augmentation as well as incision and flap designs for optimal outcomes. Participants will get insight into all aspects of dental hard and soft tissue regeneration. One focus will be on possibilities and limitations of biomaterial applications. Two participants will work together on a cadaver skull. The fresh frozen cadavers enable a “close to reality” training of the surgical procedures. Dr. Thiele and Dr. Pelekanos will show all techniques by live video transmission and will be around to support you together with the team of the competence center.
