Dr. Joseph Gakonyo graduated with a BDS degree from the University of Nairobi in 2009. He later graduated with postgraduate diploma (2015) and MSc degree in Oral Implantology (2018) from the University of Pretoria. He has continually attended advanced training in the field of oral implantology at various universities and institutions around the world. Dr. Gakonyo is an accredited speaker with a clear and systematic approach to problem solving. He is in private practice in Nairobi Kenya , focusing on oral implantology with great interest in guided implant surgery, three-dimensional bone augmentation, soft tissue regeneration, full-arch restorations, mucogingival esthetic surgery around teeth & implants, and the management of biological implant complications. He is also a consultant in implantology in various dental institutions in East Africa. He is a Fellow of the International Team for Implantology (ITI) , a member of the European Association for Osseointegration, director of the ITI Study Club Nairobi, an ITI accredited speaker and also an examiner of the ITI Diploma. As a recognized opinion leader for various international dental companies, he frequently receives invitations to serve as an expert speaker at lectures, workshops, and hands-on courses, both in Kenya and in other countries. His enthusiasm lies in sharing knowledge about innovative products and procedures. Additionally, he has conducted various research projects and has published scientific articles in the area of implant dentistry in both local and international journals.
