Lateral sinus lift and additional horizontal augmentation using cerabone® plus – a 1-year follow-up – SURGERY

A systemically healthy patient presented with a sinus pneumatization and horizontal bone atrophy in the partially edentulous right maxilla. A mucoperiosteal flap was reflected and the lateral wall of the sinus was prepared with piezoelectric inserts. After the elevation of the Schneiderian membrane and removal of the bony window, the subsinusal space was filled with cerabone® plus and implants were placed in positions #1.5 and #1.7. A minor horizontal augmentation was performed at the level of an implant fenestration in #1.5 using cerabone® plus again. Both regenerative sites were stabilized with Jason® membrane. Submerged healing was applied by advancing the flap to achieve first intention closure. Implant re-opening was performed at 6 months with an apically positioned flap. The follow-up at one year after prosthetic load shows stable peri-implant tissues.
