cerabone® plus for gap augmentation around an immediate implant

In this video, Dr. Pelekanos demonstrates the surgical steps for an implant-supported restoration of a partially edentulous site in the posterior mandible. A 40-year-old female patient who was healthy and a non-smoker was diagnosed with deep caries on tooth 46 and a missing tooth 45. Tooth extraction and immediate implant placement were planned at #46, and an additional implant was planned at #45. MGUIDE software (MIS) was used for the guided implant surgery, which was also simulated on a 3D-printed model. A standard and a wide connect abutment were chosen as multi-units already prior to surgery. During the surgery, extraction of tooth 46 was performed a-traumatically. After implant- and one-time abutment placement, the remaining gaps of the extraction socket were filled with cerabone® plus, which was hydrated with sterile saline according to the hydration protocol, and digital scans were performed. Finally the prefabricated PMMA healing abutments were inserted with two additional sutures.

Dr. Stavros Pelekanos holds a doctoral degree in Prosthodontics and was appointed full-time lecturer at the Department of Prosthodontics, Dental School at University of Athens, Greece. He has established a private practice in Athens, oriented towards prosthodontics, implantology and esthetic dentistry.
