In this webinar, Prof. Anton Sculean, Dr. Marius Steigmann, Dr. Dragana Rakasevic and Dr. Miguel Stanley will explain the rationale of using hyaluronic acid for tissue regeneration and will present the biological and clinical principles of the interplay of bovine bone grafting material with hyaluronic acid.
BIOFUNCTIONALIZATION
Usability and clinical manageability are emerging key aspects when it comes to the requirements for the ‘ideal’ bone grafting material. Handling characteristics of bone regeneration materials can be significantly improved by organic additives, with hyaluronic acid being most recently introduced. Hyaluronic acid as an important component of hard and soft tissues has increasingly attracted attention in many medical applications, not only because of its biological activities but also due to its liquid binding capacities.
VOLUME STABILITY
The use of bovine bone materials has a long tradition, is very well documented and has a high acceptance worldwide. cerabone® is a 100% pure bone mineral of bovine origin produced by a unique 1200°C manufacturing process for maximum safety. This processing results in reduced solubility and high crystallinity, which in turn leads to excellent volumetric stability. cerabone® has been successfully used in regenerative dental medicine in over 2 million patients and more than 200 publications prove its unique material characteristics and clinical efficacy.
VOLUME STABILITY PLUS BIOFUNCTIONALIZATION – CERABONE® PLUS
cerabone® plus is composed of the established bovine bone substitute material cerabone® and the biopolymer sodium hyaluronate. Upon hydration, this combination results in a bone substitute material with exceptional volume stability and the well-known biological properties of hyaluronic acid. Thanks to the remarkable liquid binding capacity of the hyaluronate in cerabone® plus, a sticky bone material forms upon contact with aqueous solutions and blood. The malleable mass of cerabone® plus allows for efficient defect augmentation, time saving application, as well as easy defect contouring. At the same time, single particle displacement is reduced.
